About Remote for Philips TV
Philips Smart TVs can be controlled from your phone over your home network. Remote for Philips TV replaces the physical remote with your Android phone: it connects over Wi-Fi, so you can pause a show, change the volume or move through menus without finding the remote.
Below you will find which Philips TVs the app targets, the steps to connect it, and fixes for the most common connection problems.
Compatible Philips TVs
Philips Smart TVs
The app is designed for Philips TVs with a network connection, including models running Android TV. Menus and options differ between model years.
Same network as your phone
Your Philips TV and your Android phone must share the same Wi-Fi network, or the TV must be wired to the same router.
Philips TVs without network
A Philips TV that cannot connect to a network only accepts its infrared remote, and no app can control it over Wi-Fi.
Set up your Philips TV
1. Install the app
Download Remote for Philips TV from Google Play.
2. Switch the TV on and join Wi-Fi
Make sure the Philips TV is on and connected to the same network as your phone, not to a guest network.
3. Choose your TV
Open the app and select your Philips TV from the detected devices.
4. Enter the pairing code if asked
Some Philips TVs display a pairing code on screen the first time. Type it into the app to finish; the TV is then remembered.
Troubleshooting
The app finds no Philips TV
Confirm that phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network and that the TV is on. If you use a mesh system or a guest network, connect both devices to the main network.
The pairing code does not work
Codes are temporary. Restart pairing from the app and enter the new code that appears on the TV.
Buttons work but the TV will not start
A TV in standby often ignores network commands. Turn it on once with its physical remote or power button, then use the app.
