About Universal Remote Control

Universal Remote Control is one app for several TV brands. Instead of installing a separate remote for each television, you install it once and let it detect your TV over Wi-Fi, which is useful in a home with more than one brand or when you are unsure which app fits.

Compatible Universal TVs

Samsung, LG and Sony

Samsung, LG (webOS) and Sony Bravia Smart TVs are supported by the multi-brand app.

Philips, Panasonic and Telefunken

Philips, Panasonic and Telefunken Smart TVs are covered too, along with Grundig.

One network for everything

Phone and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Devices that cannot connect to a network, such as infrared-only TVs, are not supported.

Set up your Universal TV

1. Install the app
Download Universal Remote Control from Google Play.
2. Join the same network
Connect your phone and your TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
3. Let it detect your TV
Open the app with the TV switched on; it scans the network and shows the TVs it finds, whatever their brand.
4. Pair if asked
Select your TV and accept any pairing request or code shown on the TV screen.

Troubleshooting

My TV brand is not detected

Check the brand is in the supported list on this page, that the TV is on and on the same network as your phone. If the brand has its own dedicated app on this site, try that one.

Should I use this app or a brand-specific one?

Use this one if you want a single remote for several brands. A dedicated brand app is a good choice if you only have one TV and want an interface built around it.
